"Michter's Small Batch Bourbon; Video Games"
Watch on YouTube
https://youtu.be/lYgWFNMhsMA
What if a glass of bourbon could transport you through time? We kick things off with a personal anecdote about our first sip of Michter's Small Batch Bourbon, a spirit with roots tracing back to 1753. We share our lighthearted musings on its rich history, aromatic profile, and how its color amusingly resembles the amber cane from Jurassic Park. Join us as we unravel the layers of this Kentucky gem, and let the flavors whisk you away on a sensory journey filled with laughter and historical tidbits.
Ever wondered what itβs like to balance a new job with the immersive world of gaming? In this segment, we tackle the unpredictability of life, sharing personal tales of how video games, like "The Last of Us," can be both a distraction and a comfort. We dive into the latest tech with our thoughts on the PlayStation Portal vs. the Nintendo Switch, peppered with nostalgic reflections on gaming's golden moments. Our playful banter serves up a mix of humor and insight, making the digital realm feel like a familiar friend.
Finally, we wander into an unexpectedly quirky discussion about the art (or lack thereof) of ear piercing with a gun. With our trademark wit, we navigate this peculiar topic, imagining fictitious diseases and humorous parallels to gothic-themed documentaries. Alongside the laughter, we explore the therapeutic nature of gaming and whiskey, comparing new beginnings to the endurance of a marathon. Whether you're a whiskey aficionado, a gaming enthusiast, or simply in need of a good chuckle, this episode promises a delightful mix of entertainment and nostalgia.

Let me see your levels, checkity, check, flipping on the flip-flop. That sounds good, is it? I mean, it sounds good to me, will it? Ah, the aroma. Is it your? It's your musk. I don't have a musk. Do you think Elon Musk smells good? Oh, I was hoping that you would stop at smells and I was like you know what? I think he has a nose. I, you know what I think he has a nose, I'm sure he has.
Speaker 1:Well, okay, whatever, uh-oh, put it on the coaster. Are we rolling Dad joke, it's moving. I see the numbers, the numbers are moving. Oh, speed, the needles are jumping. Speed is what they yell in the biz, what we call the biz Crack Clack. Instead of the, they yell speed. That'll hurt me later. You, that'll hurt me later.
Speaker 1:Welcome to whiskey bits with matt and phil, where we sip on everyday whiskeys and find the funny in our everyday lives. You know, it's not gonna hurt you later, it's gonna hurt you right now. Yeah, it's gonna burn. Going down mictors, mict. We're going to open up the Mictors, small batch First time we've done a Mictors on this show, I think so that's crazy.
Speaker 1:Established 1753. This is the small batch Mictors from 1753. Okay, no, I'm just. I'm mourning something right now. We didn't like hey man, how's it going? Oh, we just jumped in today, which is good, but I hope you're doing well. We have limited time and a lot to talk about. I wasted no time with the pleasantries, you were just bam Mictors. Hey, matt, it's good to see you. Hey, phil, how's it going? Great, great, all right, all right. So the mictors uh, this is, this is a small batch. Kentucky straight bird from louisville, kentucky, whoa, whoa, you smell it. It smells amazing. Batch number 20 h is in hotel 1956. Sounds like a good batch to me. 20, hotel 1956.
Speaker 1:I like the label. I like the bottle. Presentation's really nice. It's a wood, top cork. I really like their bottles, their labels, the bottles. I like it all. Yeah, it's got the old pot still on there.
Speaker 1:Pre-revolutionary war quality Standard dating to 1753. What this guy right here is a 91 proof. Hold on a second. It's Pre-Revolutionary War. Well, yeah, see, the Revolutionary War happened in During the Revolution 1776. That's when we became a country. Correct, that was the Revolutionary War, right? So this one was established 1753, which would be about 20, holy cow, or so years. It's really that old. Well, I mean, this bottle's from Just a couple years ago.
Speaker 1:Well then, can you imagine how well that would taste if you did a joke? I think I did a joke, I don't know it kind of was, but Cheers, cheers. That would taste if you dad joke. I think I need to judge. I don't know, it kind of was, but cheers, cheers to the mix.
Speaker 1:Our second episode of the new year, third. Okay, all right, so you get into the year. Oh, it is season two. I guess, I don't know, we really haven't decided. I mean, we're calling it season two. Oh, it haven't whatever. I mean, we're calling it season two. Oh, it is very welcome season two. Yeah, it is just very.
Speaker 1:I don't want to use the word pungent again. Pungent. I feel like I'm gonna use it, but I don't want to because don't do it. You said it's 91 proof. It's, it's, it's 91.4, so it's not as much, but it'd be interesting to see if it holds to that or if it tastes like a higher proof. I don't know, I just I.
Speaker 1:There's just something about the aroma, the nose, it just it is good, it gets me good, it gets me deep. I mean it has a classic bourbon smell to it. Yeah, you know that kind of woodsy, oaky, yeah, but there's like a sweetness behind it too. Naturally it is bourbon, so we know it's 51% corn at least Aged in new oak barrels. These are white oak barrels, charred barrels. And where are these? If that matters, these guys are based out of Louisville, kentucky. Oh man, I like the color. The color is kind of the color's nice, isn't it? No age statement on this bottle, on the small batch, but yeah, the color's nice. It's almost like a really just. It reminds me of the Jurassic Park amber cane top that the guy had with the mosquito in it.
Speaker 1:I always wanted one of those. Can you find one of those for me? I'll work on it and then chisel it so it's nice and smooth and then we can have it. This is the microphone. Let's make it's too bad. This isn't like an archaeology podcast, should we do? Yeah, let's drink it.
Speaker 1:A lot of corn off the front, right? Yeah, not as complex as I thought. Are you getting some corn husk? No, that's more in the after days. No, that's more in the after days. I was kind of expecting the flavor to be a little more complex, similar to what I'm getting from the nose, but I need to try it again, probably. Ooh, you're really Kentucky chewing that. Oh, wow, that's like Kentucky gnaw right there. Wow, it's like a Kentucky.
Speaker 1:I just want to break it loose a little bit. Break it loose your teeth or your gums or the Just, all of it, all of it. I want to break everything loose. It's everything in my mouth. Just I want to. Can I just get loose, get loose. Oh, blah, blah, blah. America. I don't know, that was last week's episode, that was two weeks ago. Who knows. This is like that time I took a winemaking class and forgot how to drive. It's like we're in a time vortex. I think it's the future, but it's the past. Weird In the past. Future, but it's the past. Weird in the past. What are we talking?
Speaker 1:Uh, price wise for this one. This is the one that's available all the time, all the time, yeah, all the time. Relatively 35 bucks, yeah, 35, 40, maybe, maybe into the 40s, but um, it's really tasty. It is for the price, for the price point, and I mean you grab one, put it on your shelf, put it on there. I'm not, well, wait, I'm not giving it the stamp of approval yet, right? Well, I'm holding off a little bit.
Speaker 1:It kind of feels like it's done its thing and and I don't know how much is left. You know what I mean. Yeah, like I don't know if there's going to be a Ooh, it's opened up more. Like I'm kind of like on the, on the, on the backend, like the aftertaste kind of has a little bit of a bitterness to it. Agreed, almost like a coffee bitterness, not a coffee flavor, but like the feeling on the tongue you get. I couldn't agree more. It's, it's. Yeah, I, that's exactly what I was thinking was.
Speaker 1:For me, it's the finish, it's the aftertaste that doesn't quite hit, right, yeah, it kind of just stays. Yeah, and maybe that's more of the ethanol kind of aftertaste, like if it was just straight alcohol. Yeah, well, you know how, like sometimes they taste a little bit like banana peels. Yes, yes, this isn't like banana peels. Yes, yes, this isn't quite banana peels, but that's a that's a byproduct of the ethanol burning off. Okay, um, yeah, that's that bitter taste. Yeah, I mean and I've eaten a lot of banana peels surprisingly, just go nuts with those things. Well, it's a staple of my diet really. Yeah, oh, it's banana, lots of fiber. Yeah, I think what it was is. They were like oh, you should try banana pudding, but I thought that the peel was a part of it and I just kept doing it.
Speaker 1:No one's told me to stop, so I'm not telling you to stop, that's for sure. Uh, somebody should tell me to stop something and start something at the same time. Stop starting stopping. Stop stopping the things you start. Stop, start stopping, start stopping the things you start. That means you stop, stop, start.
Speaker 1:If you say start stopping the things you've started, you suck at it. If you say stop, unless you're stopping the things you start, you're a quitter. Unless you're stopping, unless you're stopping, unless, like, your job is stopping, oh yeah, then you want to stop, start stopping, nope, at some point, start stopping, you're going to step up. You got to step up. If you're going to start stopping, all I can see is the step up movie poster. Yeah, was it Jessica Alba? I don't know. Channing tatum, I don't know. I don't know. Step up, you better step off.
Speaker 1:Oh wow, that was bring it on. Oh, I already been, it's already been brought it. Yeah, I, like this was kirsten dunst, just outside of my um age group. Like this was really popular when I was done watching movies, all the team. Oh yeah, so you're like I'm an adult, so I don't remember that. And kirsten dunst, like I'm not.
Speaker 1:Yeah, save the last dance. Like that's yeah, who's in that? Mckay pfeiffer? I don't know, I feel like mckay pfeiffer's in that. Sure it's an odd name, but let's, let's just go with it. Let's go with MacGyver. Yeah, save the last dance. Hopefully they save. No, that's Julia Stiles. Oh, yeah, she kind of disappeared for a while, yeah, until Jason Bourne found her. Yeah, and they were like, hey, hey, you should be Jason thing. Oh, yeah, ten things I hate about you.
Speaker 1:Anyways, some caramel opening up. I don't know if you've caught some caramel. There's maybe a little more sweetness that's come with it. It's not like I'm like, oh, I don't. You know black licorice too. Really, I found a little bit of black licorice. There Might be the black licorice you had right before it, definitely not.
Speaker 1:Black licorice is like olives to me. It's the best way to ruin something. Oh, I can't stand olives. Yeah, those are fruits and vegetables. Don't you like Fruits and vegetables?
Speaker 1:Is an olive a fruit or a vegetable? Or is it a nut? It comes from a bush? No, it would be a fruit. No, it comes from a tree, right, because it has a. Doesn't it have a pit in it. Yeah, it's got a pit, that's why they call it olive pit. And then, is there Not olive nut, is there? Well, yeah, but is that pit? A good question, I don't know.
Speaker 1:Or are we into, like the, the world of legumes? Oh, don't get me started on legumes. Is it legume or legume? I'm gonna say legume, I'm gonna stick with this one. It sounds french. So you're just saying this doesn't get your stamp of approval. Yeah, so I, I'm just. I will have to see what happens as it opens up a little more open up. You know, I bet you this episode we're really gonna open up like it's gonna be. I just feel like this episode is gonna have so much energy.
Speaker 1:It didn't start off strong, what it's not? It started off with me just going right into it, oh yeah. So maybe it started off too strong, but not not with enough energy. This episode started off how your relationship with your wife started off just way too strong and like, but also like, just you're just like. Hey, are you projecting?
Speaker 1:That's not how it all, how it started, oh, I, I definitely was way too strong, were you? You, oh for sure. I said I love you to Madison, four months in, I mean, but she was a rebound. Stop, we were married at like eight months in, oh really, so I guess we went pretty strong too, but we had a lot of relationship before that. Oh well, no, madison was a rebound, really, totally Wow.
Speaker 1:Got broken up with two weeks later. Hey, the rebound that stuck. Huh, yeah, wow, more like a rebound swish. Well, I mean Rebound slam dunk I didn't mean to slam dunk, but yeah, you definitely. Yeah, more like rebound.
Speaker 1:Broke the glass, wow, ooh, is that good or bad? I think that's good, cool. You break the glass glass. Wow, oh, is that good or bad? Um, I think that's good cool. I think no, I think it's good luck. I think breaking glass, oh, yeah, like no, I don't know what that was. That was like a mix. Sorry, jewish friends, everybody in my jewish side of the family that was a mix between, and also something from Street Fighter. I'm pretty sure that was Ryu from Street Fighter.
Speaker 1:Speaking of oh, ryu, yes, you were going to tell me something that you have gotten into. Well, I was. I know we weren't, I was. What's wrong with you? Look, I have been forgetting to do things Okay, okay, like it's just.
Speaker 1:I've been distracted. So things Okay, okay, like it's just, I've been distracted, but I've got this new job why, you got a new job, I've got a new job, awesome, and I'm very excited about what we're doing and I just lose track of time, like I had an appointment to go to and I didn't notice it. Nope, oh, an actual appointment, yeah, like a real one, like a real one, but this is real, okay, the stakes aren't like a doctor's appointment, oh. And I was like, oh, we're gonna have to, we're gonna have to change this to virtual, is that okay, because I'm still at home. I totally, totally lost track of time. Oh, and they'll charge you. They would, but I'm gonna she's really nice, I'm gonna charge you, go ahead. So then, yeah, so I didn't, didn't show up or I wasn't communicating with you today, oh, sure, whatever. And I was like man, I just I've just been losing track of time over and over again. I don't know if it has anything to do with video games or not, but I started playing a video game.
Speaker 1:Phil Stokes, what's your middle name? No, I don't Start playing a video game. Phil Stokes, what's your middle name? No, I wanted to reprimand you using your middle name, philip Stokes. It wouldn't have mattered. James, nope, fredrickson, nope, Okay, that's all I got. Those are the only two middle names I have. I like it. I like Fredrickson. I'm pretty sure that's a last name.
Speaker 1:Pfs, or is it FFS, I don't know. It depends how you say Phil, phil, my glass, jesus. Just just, why don't you take the dad joke home? You don't know what FFS stands for, okay, anyway. Well, now I want to look it up. Hold on, let me get on my phone. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Not a good idea. So, yeah, I'll take it off my phone. I started playing. You play video games.
Speaker 1:My brother-in-law has a PS5 and a PlayStation Portal. Have you seen this? I don't know what a PlayStation Portal is. I'm an Xbox guy and I have a Switch. All right, imagine, the Switch is a perfect example. Okay, okay, this is a PlayStation Switch. Oh, it has a screen in the middle. Okay, it has a screen in the middle, it's a big one, it's a big screen. Oh, it's a big screen In the middle. Oh, and you can stream from your PS5 at home, right, your games on the portal, like in a different location though. Yeah, see, that's cool, like I can be in, I don't know. Say Minnesota, oh, okay, minnesota and my PS5 can be at, say, can somebody else play on the PS5 while you're playing? No Right, they haven't figured that out yet. Not exactly.
Speaker 1:This is Backbone. Have you heard of the Backbone controller? Yeah, yeah, you knew I bought one and then I realized, oh, it has to. That one is a step below the portal, the Backbone. You can't be away, I don't't think, from your house, which what's the point? I don't understand it. I was like, oh, it's a controller. I can tell you what the point is. If I don't want to go downstairs and I want to be ultra lazy and just play from my bed, I can't. That's cool, that is kind of cool.
Speaker 1:But it also has a streaming feature. So playstation has all of these games that they stream. Yeah, yeah, and so you can. Anything that's in there with the streaming library you have access to, regardless of whether or not that PlayStation's on in use. Oh, so you can play games in the streaming thing, even if yours isn't on, because is it? Or if somebody else has had home playing it, or somebody else is connected to it to the same PS five through another portal. So your it or somebody else is connected to it to the same ps5 through another portal, so your, I can still play games. Is it like disc? That's really cool. I'm gonna have to look it up. No, it's, it's all streamed. That's all streamed on the. Yeah, and like it saves your place, yeah, so one of the streaming games is last of us. Oh, part one. Oh, I've never it, but that's because it's PlayStation.
Speaker 1:I put yeah, I played when, when when I first got a PlayStation four, I played it for several hours, several hours a day, and then I I got I don't know. I don't want to. I don't want to say like I got bored with it, but like I just ran out of time for it, like it just wasn't a thing. Yeah, I go through phases of video games where I'm like really into one and you're going to find out, but I'm really into one, and then I go crazy with it, yeah, and then I like kind of never play it for like a year and then I go back to it again. Yeah, that might be what I end up doing, like Minecraft, but because I can stream this thing and play from wherever whenever I want, that is a problem, can be a problem. Could be a problem, could be.
Speaker 1:So he had this thing and I was like, man, we should probably get one of those. This is your brother, this is my brother-in-law, yeah, and I was like the guy you're working for now, hold on a second, I just want to paint a picture here. So you got the job. Hold on a second, I just want to paint a picture here. So you got the job. The guy you're working for has now given you the idea Wow, that is awesome. It's his fault. Do you want to know what happened? No, yes.
Speaker 1:So we were traveling and decided we should get one of these with the portal, and my oldest son is big into video games. He's like oh, that'd be awesome. Yeah, of course, they're all going to love it. He's like could I buy one for myself? I was like yeah, yeah, you've got the money saved up. Sure, let's do it. So I went and bought two of them. I don't have the money saved up, let's do it. So I went and bought two of them. I don't have the money saved up, phil, but could you buy one for myself? No, but I so, spider-man, you gotta play spider-man. He's playing spider-man.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's one of the streaming games. You can play it wherever. And he's he's into the, the newest one, the it's, it's the miles morales one. Yeah, I've never played it. I'm so jealous. Yeah, all the kids are playing it now. Um, because they like yeah, because they'll grab the playstation portal and they'll just like, yeah, log in and play it.
Speaker 1:Did you bring it here? It's great? No, so. So then, um, you know, if you got two portals, were you playing last of us as I texted you? No, no, I was in the car. Oh, no, that would have been funny. No, I was in the car. Oh, no, no, no, that would have been funny. No, no, I was in the car. I was like, oh, shoot, it's 845. I should probably get upstairs and take a shower and stuff. And then, 10 minutes later, were you playing Last of Us in the shower. Can you bring it in the shower? No, it's not waterproof. Okay, look what I was playing. Sorry, stop what I was playing. Like, so I was playing Rainbow Six. Oh, yeah, I thought you said you were playing Last of Us. I mean, that's one of the games I have, but it turns out I can also play Rainbow Six, but I feel like not.
Speaker 1:Four months ago we've chatted about video games and you're like I don't play video games? No, no desire, no desire, wow, yeah. So your life is ruined. It doesn't make sense to have two PlayStation portals why not? And only one PS5. Oh no, did you buy another PS5? So now? So, now there's two. We have two PS5s. Come on, there's two.
Speaker 1:We have two ps5s, there's two ps4s, two ps5s, two playstation portals, and I think we've got a wii somewhere. We just bought it just to like, lose it. We bought the wii just so that we would have something where we're like, we got it somewhere. We don't know where it is, it's like in the chicken coop. There's probably two or three of them, probably In the chicken coop. The chickens like to play Because they're so cheap. You could just go buy them at GameStop for like 20 bucks. My dad won. They're basically disposable. I know, yeah, that's insane, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:So we bought the ps5 while we were traveling, so that we had something to do while we were traveling. Oh my gosh, so so wait. So now, technically, couldn't four people play at the same time? Yeah, not off the same ps5, but like like one person has one ps5, another person has the other, and then you guys do the portal. As long as it's not a game. That's as long as it's not a game. That's as long as it's not logged in to another user. No, it can't even be. You can't even be on it. Okay, I don't even think you can be on it. I have to check. I have to check. See that to me. Because I have to check, because the reason we got the second one Some nerd right now is getting really upset about our episode.
Speaker 1:He's like, clearly it states in the instructions you can't, sorry, go ahead. Okay, first of all, if there's a person that actually knows, because I went through, if there's a person that talks like that, first of all. Yeah, that's true, that, maybe that's true. You know, get some speech. There are no clear instructions on how this thing works. There's no clear instructions on how this thing works.
Speaker 1:It took a very, very long time just to get like keon set up yeah, because he was a child on on our account and like, yeah, then you're not allowed to do hardly anything on the portal, and I'm like that's a waste and so like we just made him a new account where he's 21 or whatever and like you can just do whatever you want. They grow up so fast. They grow up so quick, so fast, so quick, but, um, but yeah, anyway. So, like, so, I don't know, but like, my thought is, if I'm at home or I'm not at home sorry if I'm not at home I've got the two ps5s. There's no way they're both going to be in use at the same time. Most of the time, most of the time, you have three boys, correct, correct, you know how many.
Speaker 1:My point is, my point is I can call them and say, yeah, hey, get off my playstation. Actually, the portal comes out and says, um, hey, phil is logged in and is taking control of this. Oh, and I can shut them off. Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, can they retake control? Um, maybe that'd be funny, it's maybe all day. You're just like, you know, maybe control and losing control, maybe, but either way, I'm like oh, this thing is, this is fun. Oh, my gosh, yeah, so I'm playing video games. Are you going to let me play? Sure, I think cross-platform needs to happen more.
Speaker 1:I'm tired of like games that I can't play. Well, like I realized sony owns spider-man, but like, come on, share it with microsoft so I can play it. Oh, they did, they did that with me. Uh, mlb the show do you want to do you want a ps4? Yeah, because I have a bunch of them. How many do you got five of them? No, just two. But ps4s are old, right, yeah, but they're not bad that old. No, old, no, they're still making. Well, you can still buy games for the PS4. For PS4? Yeah, so it's like all the new games that are coming out right now on the PlayStation platform are PS4 and PS5. Oh, when did the 5 come out? Two years ago, okay, three years ago.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I have the Xbox Series X, which is very confusing. It was like Xbox One and then it was like Xbox One Series X. I was like, why don't you call it like Xbox Series Z or something Like why X? It's confusing. Yeah, I don't know. Is it Twitter? Like, what is this? Yeah, right, like, does Elon Musk own it? Does it just blow up? Yeah, you launch it into space and it explodes. I'm sure he'll figure it out. Good luck, elon, with the rockets. Good luck with the rockets, I don't know. Have fun blowing your ships up. I just feel like he needed an encouragement there. He's listening. He is Everyone's listening. They are all listening.
Speaker 1:Uh, the games I'm into. Yeah, I was playing before you came when I texted you actually. Yeah, uh, so the news. So I really got into zelda. Oh, I never played it when I was a kid, yeah, but there's a bunch of different ones. So there's like Breath of the Wild. Then there's Tears of the Kingdom. Those are like it's all Nintendo Switch, but they're like, oh, he looks more like a proportioned human being. It's open world and all that.
Speaker 1:Then there was Link's Awakening, which is more of like the top down kind of one yeah, like more like the old school one, the original one. Yeah, like more like the old school one, the original. Yeah, yeah. And then this new one I don't even remember what it's called. No, it's basically, instead of playing as Link, you're playing as Zelda trying to save Link. Interesting, yeah.
Speaker 1:And so I got that for Christmas, okay, and I've been playing that. That's all on the Switch. It's awesome, yeah, yeah, okay, I love it. It's awesome. Yeah, I have that. But then also call of duty mobile, okay, which I think I've given up on streaming that. On tiktok, I'm over it. Good, I'm over it. It's stupid. I'm done with it, like I'm done with the, the gaming portion of that there. It's just, it's like I don't know if I'm shadow banned or whatever they call it, like they just won't push you out, okay, but I'm like it's just a waste of my time to stream. I'm like why am I even doing this? I'll still play it, but I got to legendary legend. Wait for it, dairy, there there's.
Speaker 1:There's multiplayer, which is like you're on teams and you're doing like team death match, where you're like going, you know, 10 versus 10 or something like that. Then there's battle royale, which is similar to fortnite, which I suck at fortnite, because fortnite does not do and I it bugs me so much just release the option to do first person. It's third, it's this third person stuff. I'm like I don't care what my character looks like Like, I want to be able to actually like get somebody in the game. So I cannot do the third person view. It just does not Interesting, it doesn't work for me, it throws me off. But in in a call of duty, battle Royale is like you're in this open world and the zone is shrinking and so it's last man standing kind of thing. You can be on a team by yourself or you can be on with four people or two people or three. But I got up to in multiplayer the team deathmatch stuff.
Speaker 1:I'm legendary status, which is the highest, and then in battle Royale, I'm like a couple below that. Okay, no, I think I'm legendary battle rail. I think it's the other way around. Okay, battle Royale, I'm legendary. Multiplayer, I'm getting ranked anyways. Okay, wow. So I've been playing that a lot. Well, that's great.
Speaker 1:I have been looking into Call of Duty as the next one to just sort of get used to the first-person shooter. Yeah, because Last of Us is third-person. But see, I don't mind it if it's not a first-person, if it's not a shooter Like I mean that one's more like the Tomb Raider game. Yeah, there's some adventure aspect to it. You're not battling all of the time, right, right, you're not battling all the time. But I do better with the third person because I understand where I'm trying to look. It gives me more depth, I don't know, maybe more me, more depth, I don't know, maybe more peripheral vision, I don't know.
Speaker 1:Battlefront, no, no, no, I haven't there's battlefront. I wish they would make battlefield 1942, oh, yeah, oh, the battle way back in the day, oh yeah, that was on. That was like uh, that was on pc though. Oh, there's tons of them. Yeah, it's on PC. Xbox yeah, but I played on the PC. Yeah, that was a good game.
Speaker 1:I'd love to find something like that again. Yeah, maybe I should get one of the Battlefields. You should probably buy an Xbox, maybe get two and then get the Backbone two of them so that you can play. Play them anywhere. Yeah, yeah, and you can play. Play them anywhere. Yeah, yeah, well, maybe I would do that if I didn't have, like, two PS5s. No, I think it's totally. Oh, it's totally different companies. Yeah, so they're not going to care. No, no, yeah, but I will care. No, I think the chickens would love to. My bank account will care. Your bank account don't care about nothing. Your bank account don't care about nothing. Your bank account hasn't cared since 1979.
Speaker 1:The year I was born Is that when you were born? Yeah, oh, wow, that's a good guess. That's really good. You're six years older than me. Oh, I'm going to be 40 this year.
Speaker 1:We're saying a lot of things. Thanks, video games man. I feel like I have so much to talk about. Yeah, the kids um, video games man, I feel like I have so much to talk about. Yeah, the kids like stella and indy. So stella, our 10 year old, and then indy, the seven year old boy uh, he is. They're really into it. He's into the minecraft. She does like the leg. I love the lego games. You've ever played those? Yeah, those are fun. Well, I don't know nindago. I never got into nindjago. We played the nindjago game. That was fun. Is that fun? Yeah, lego star wars that's cool. Lego marvel superheroes that's a cool one. Yeah, man, so much we could say about video games. Well, so much you could say.
Speaker 1:I'm new to it and it's ruining your life. Though I have no idea how long this is gonna last. Yeah, what are you gonna do? Do? I'm not sure. But what's neat is I work for a software development company now and they have two Xboxes on site at the office, but you work remote. That's why, correct, I work remote, which means you can play remote. There's essentially three, which is why I need another Xbox In the remote office. There's actually six more. There's actually. Yeah, there's actually a lot more. That's so funny. Yeah, so it's part of the culture, I guess. In some way, I guess, maybe, I don't know, maybe it's part of the culture, so I don't know.
Speaker 1:I'm having fun trying to figure it out. How's it going, though? Usually like it's going well. Yeah, it's going well. I'm a few days in, so it's, you know, it's new. When did you actually? Was it Monday? Mm-hmm, this week it was like yesterday. Wow, like your first full-time day. Yeah, full-time day, because Monday and Tuesday, that's two days. It's Tuesday today. For all of you keeping track of this at home, it's Tuesday. Hey, some guy's like what day is it? And we're like we just helped him out, unless it's Thursday when they listen to it and they're screwed, everything's passed. So I guess we're not going to keep these evergreen anymore. But anyway, I'm a couple days in, okay, and it's going well.
Speaker 1:Good, there's a lot to learn about the industry, about the business that I'm getting involved in, but, yeah, just sort of hitting the ground, running, hit it running, hitting it running. You can walk, you can hit the ground walking. I mean, you got to walk before you run. Slow and steady wins the race. Uh, it's absolutely not a marathon. Wait, no, wait, it is a marathon, it is not a sprint, right? Nobody wants to even do a marathon. I yeah, I don't understand it like I don't. I don't want to sprint either, though I don't. I just kind of want to sit here. Yeah, I don't want to run, unless somebody's chasing me.
Speaker 1:You know, what I would love to do is play video games right now. That would be great. Let's go play video games. Well, I'm just gonna go home then.
Speaker 1:Okay, because you don't have my video game here. That's true, you could have brought it. I could have brought it and I would have done your thing where you kick off your kid. Yeah, that's true. No, I would have brought it. I could have brought it and I would have been able to play. You could have done your thing where you kick off your kid. Yeah, that's true. No, I would have just played it on the subway and just streamed it. I'm taking it over. I would have just streamed it. They're all in bed. I would have been fine. That's true, Amy's, like, I'm going to play.
Speaker 1:There's no ladies listening to this. If there were, why? Why don't you play video games? That's the deal. There are some ladies, there's tons of people that play video game. Lots of ladies, tons and tons, that do much better than me on tiktok when they stream video game.
Speaker 1:Play, yeah, call of duty though. Um, love it should, I should. I get one. Yeah, and you can do call of duty mobile, which, which is, you can use a controller. I bluetooth, bluetooth my controller, yeah, and then I kick butt, okay, but I mean, you're playing with people that have controllers too. But yeah, call of Duty is called Call of Duty. The Battle Royale thing is called Call of Duty, warzone. That's free. Okay, got it, you can just play that, okay. Of course, you know, oh, oh, you can buy mods and you can buy skins and yeah, no, thanks, I hate that. That's the model nowadays.
Speaker 1:But yeah, there's a cool game I don't know if it's on ps, but, um, indiana jones. You know, I was gonna, I was thinking about it's awesome. Yeah, that would be fun, it's awesome. I really, I like, I like the ones that have missions. I don't really want to necessarily do just like a third person shooter or first person shooter where we're just killing each other. It's like I would like to get into something that has like missions and some objectives. It's like detective meets archaeologist. Yeah, it's first person shooting. All right, I'm gonna buy, I'm gonna go find this. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Okay, yeah, I might do it right now. You should do it right now, okay, okay, I'm gonna do it. Okay, go do it. Don't, don't, don't think I won't. Thanks, why are you doing the star wars theme.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh, all right, has it opened up? Final, final thought it's sweeter, it's. Yeah, there's some caramel and some raisins. Here's what I'll say. It doesn't get the full stamp of approval, right? Uh, for me one and half. For me, it doesn't get the full one. I don't even want to put the half one on. Yeah, um, I will say that it's not a bad drink. It's it not bad? There's probably some people that would really thoroughly enjoy it. I don't. I'm not disappointed that I have it, yeah, but I probably wouldn't be quick to replace it. Well, it's also everywhere it is. It is.
Speaker 1:To me, it's the aftertaste. I like it coming in, I like it going down. Everybody loves that. You know when it goes and tastes good and gosh. I think I made it worse by reacting to my own joke. We were going to be fine, it was going to be fine.
Speaker 1:Nobody listens at this point anyways. Right, do they listen? Somebody's listening. Wow, it may just be one of us later. Listens at this point, anyways. Right, do they listen? Somebody's listening. Wow, it may just be one of us, it's just me. I'm laughing. Right now I'm working out in the gym.
Speaker 1:Listen, it is laughing, but no, it's that aftertaste yeah, that's that's what I think is is kind of, eh, you know it's like it's not as pleasant. Yeah, it's just not as pleasant. Yeah, the beginning is good. Yeah, you know it's like a sequel. You know the beginning was really good and you're like, yeah, sure, didn't like the way it ended.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I just think that I think where I would put this one is if you have $42 to spend there. Yeah, like would you make an old-fashioned? There's almost no whiskey in this price range that I wouldn't use as a mixer. Is that right? I don't know, does that make sense? You would use whiskey as a mixer? I mean, no, I wouldn't use any in that price range. What I'm saying is like Buffalo trace, oh, 100% mixer. Yeah, but I would also drink that neat Cause that's really good, cause this is really, um, this one is primarily a mixer. Okay, that's what I would. Yeah, that's what the you tell the utility of it would be. For that price.
Speaker 1:I would much rather buy something way cheaper and way better, way more versatile, yeah, okay, if you'd like to know what, go check out old granddad. His address is go check out old granddad. Bald and bod. We have a. We have that episode. Go listen to that one If you're interested, or just go buy the bottle and just go buy it and then listen to it as you're drinking it. It's like this ethereal. You'll never believe who reached out to us.
Speaker 1:Friend of the show, friend of the show, jared. He did, he did, does he want to come on? He said what, um, if you could recommend a whiskey, or two, or maybe three, what are your tops? Is it becoming an alcoholic? No, no, no, no, no, no. He just said I don't have much bourbon in the house and like I should get some good stuff. Yeah, and so we did a four whiskey tasting together.
Speaker 1:When was this? A few weeks ago? Where was I in it? Freaking, indianapolis, dang it In-laws. Not invited. I was here, I just wasn't invited. Maybe worse, maybe, but no, it was. It was.
Speaker 1:Hey, let's, let's give these a try. And so I gave him my four, my four top recommendations, which are old grad, dad, bottle and bond. Okay, four roses, single barrel Keep going. Do I have to? I love it. Do I have to keep going? Yeah, keep going. Okay, this is good.
Speaker 1:Four Roses, single Barrel. Four Roses, single Barrel. Okay, see, I ruined it. You don't remember the fourth one. You've named three. No, I think I've only named two Old Granddad, old Granddad, bottle and Bond. What else do we need to look at? Old Granddad and Bottle and Bond, heaven and Hill, heaven and Hill, heaven, hill, heaven, hill, heaven, hill, bottle and Bond as well. Bull Run, no-transcript. We're gonna tell you what those four were. Thanks for listening. I feel so terrible. Yeah, you should. I know what it was. What was it cut? Cut next time on Whiskey Bits.
Speaker 1:David Nicholson, 1842, is that right? 1843, 1843. So Nicholson, four roses, single barrel just name them again bottle and bond. And the other, his single barrel, heaven Hill, bottled and Bond. And the other Bottled. And Bond was the Old Grandad. Old Grandad, okay. Did he get them all? No, we tried them all. Okay, you know what his favorite was? Heaven Hill, old Grandad, really Bottled. And Bond.
Speaker 1:He's like this is fantastic, this is really good. He's like how much is it? It was like is it like 18 bucks? Have that right now? 23, 18 bucks, yeah. And he's like shut up, I thought you were gonna give me like very expensive stuff. I'm like no, why would I? He's like son of a gun. If you want to spend, if you want to spend more. I will get you some more ones like more options that you could spend a lot more on. But don't need to. We should. I want to have some right now. Okay, okay, thanks, phil. Thanks, matt, appreciate it. Good to see you again. Good back in the grind. Good to see you too. Bye-bye next time on whiskey bits.
Speaker 1:Also, what's gross is how they pierce ears with the gun so, so disgusting. How do they do that? I mean, it's an explosion Like you're shooting, oh really, and it's like it's taking a needle and like you don't clean those things enough to get other people's like stuff off. So like there's just like rotting flesh on there, oh yeah. And so like you just probably got infected from someone else's lobe flesh. You've got to watch out for the lobe flesh. There's that lobe flesh disease that's rampant out there right now with all those players.
Speaker 1:This is not endorsed. Nor do we have any proof or knowledge of any player's lobe flesh disease. That may or may not be present to me. Oh, I'm pretty sure it's well done. Oh, yeah, for sure it's out there. There's a documentary on it. I think it's well done. Oh, yeah, for sure, it's out there. There's a documentary on it. I think it's actually called Lobe Flesh from Claire's. That's actually the name. That sounds like the name of. Like that sounds like a goth lotion Lobe Flesh by Claire's.
